Job Description

Finance Assistant

Salary: £25,000 - £28,000 + benefits

Location: Bristol

Duration: Permanent

The Opportunity

We’re working with a fast-growing, award-winning creative business. Known for delivering high-impact, large-scale experiences for globally recognised brands, this is a business that combines creativity with commercial delivery and they’re now looking to strengthen their finance function.

This is a brilliant opportunity for a Finance Assistant who wants more than just processing. You’ll work closely with an experienced Financial Controller and play a key role in supporting the financial health and commercial performance of the business.

The Role

This isn’t a “sit in the corner and process invoices” type of role.

You’ll be embedded in the business, supporting project-level financial tracking, ensuring profitability across campaigns, and helping drive better financial visibility and control.

Day-to-day, you’ll be involved in:

  • Running monthly payroll (c.25+ employees)
  • Managing bookkeeping and reconciliations in Xero
  • Processing purchase and sales invoices
  • Supporting freelancer invoicing
  • Credit control and managing aged debt
  • Reconciling company cards and internal expenses
  • Preparing customer statements and payment reminders
  • Supporting month-end (accruals, prepayments, reconciliations)
  • Liaising with clients and external stakeholders
  • Assisting with cash flow and financial reporting

You’ll also have the opportunity to get involved in improving systems and processes, particularly around project profitability and financial tracking.

About You

We’re looking for someone who enjoys being hands-on but is also thinking about the bigger picture.

You’ll likely have:

  • 1+ years’ experience in a Finance Assistant / Accounts role
  • Active studies (or completion) in AAT
  • Strong working knowledge of Xero
  • Solid understanding of credit control and month-end processes
  • Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, etc.)
  • High attention to detail and ability to manage your own workload

Just as importantly, you’ll be:

  • Confident communicating with stakeholders
  • Organised and proactive
  • Commercially aware (or keen to develop this)
  • Ambitious, with a clear interest in progressing to Management Accountant level

What’s in It for You?

  • Paid Christmas shutdown
  • Pension contribution
  • Flexible hybrid working (post-probation)
  • Regular socials and team events
  • Gym contribution
  • Occasional perks tied to the nature of the business

Why This Role?

This is a great step for someone who wants to move beyond transactional finance and start building real commercial exposure.

You’ll be working in a fast-paced, creative environment where finance genuinely partners with the wider business, not just reports on it.

If you’re looking for a role where you can develop, add value, and be part of something a bit different, this one is well worth a conversation.
